Gilles Gantelet
Deputy Head Internal Market, Aviation Agreements and Multilateral Relations of the Directorate General for Energy and Transport at the European Commission
Gilles Gantelet is Deputy Head of the unit "Internal Market, Aviation Agreements and Multilateral Relations" of the Directorate General for Energy and Transport at the European Commission.
At the European Commission for about 13 years, Gilles Gantelet worked in particular as spokesman for both Vice-President Loyola de Palacio, in charge of Energy and Transport, and for Jacques Barrot, then Commissioner in charge of the Regional Policy. He has also been the personal assistant of Mr. François Lamoureux, Director General for Energy and Transport.
At present, Gilles Gantelet is responsible for coordinating the implementation and the follow up of the aviation internal market. He is particularly following the proposal for the revision of the aviation third package and is supervising infringements against the Member States.
Gilles Gantelet has also occupied university teacher's posts in Brussels, Lille and Aoste. He has a large experience in associative life, notably within the "European Movement". Since 1988, he is member of the Association Jean Monnet in Paris.
Mr. Gantelet holds a DESS (Diplôme d'Etudes Spécialisées – 3rd cycle) in business administration and a DEA (Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies – 3rd Cycle) in contemporary history.
